Some of the best & most creative proposals of all time take place in public with lots of people watching just like a scene out of a romantic movie. In the not so distant past, there might even be a proposal out there that someone would witness, record, and put it on social media for all to see. From baseball stadiums to public parks, couples have been getting engaged for ages in front of strangers and loved ones. But, as we all know, times have changed. There are not many concerts, no fan-filled baseball stadiums, nor crowds at airports. So how do you propose during COVID-19 and make it memorable? Not everyone needs or wants a public proposal, and here are some tips for proposing in a way he or she will never forget, even if it’s more intimate than you originally pictured.
Creative Proposals at Home
There are many ways you can propose at home that are just as special as doing it out in public. One bride-to-be went to get a drink from her refrigerator and instead of finding drinks and food, the fridge was filled with dozens of roses and a ring box. Another unsuspecting bride completed a scavenger hunt through the couples’ home to get to the ring and the proposal. Here are some other ideas of how you can creatively propose at home:
- Breakfast in Bed
- Scrabble (Spell it out on your favorite board game!)
- Create a Wall of Photos
- Romantic Trail of Candles leading to a room in the house

Creative Proposals at an Outdoor Restaurant
If you’ve always wanted to propose with a ring in dessert, or sparklers at the table, you still can. Bundle up and have dinner at an outdoor restaurant. You can still plan the restaurant proposal, and yes, onlookers will be 6 feet apart, but that’s close enough to witness what’s going on. (They’ll still be clapping after he or she says yes.)
In a Park or At the Beach

You can still have a creative proposal at a park or some public space, you just might not get the witnesses or random on-lookers you were expecting. What you don’t have in crowds you can in creativity, how about some fireworks or signs to ask your question? You can always inform a friend so they can capture it on camera from behind a tree, and you’ll be happy you got some photos of this special moment.
