The limits of physical distancing don’t have to put a wrench in your summer date night plans. With many arcades, theaters, and bowling alleys still closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, think outside the box—literally “outside”. Here are fun summer date night ideas you can do right now with your beau this summer, despite the limits placed on us to keep us safe.
SUMMER DATE NIGHT AT DRIVE-IN THEATERS

A lot of parks that normally show outdoor movies in the summer might be closed due to COVID-19, but drive-ins are still an option.
Check the website of The Long Prairie Drive-In Theater for lots of info on their summer schedule. Other drive-in movie locales include the Starlite Drive-In in Litchfield, MN, The Verne Drive-In Theater in Luverne, MN, and the Sky-Vu Drive-In in Warren, MN.
SUMMER DATE NIGHT AT YOUR LOCAL VINEYARD

There are several Minnesota wineries where you can enjoy your time on a romantic date while still maintaining physical distancing with other people. Check out the state’s oldest winery, Alexis Bailly Vineyards, where you can play bocce ball or have a picnic, Wild Mountain Winery is in the St. Croix River Valley, or consider Saint Croix Vineyards if you’re a true white wine lover. Schram Vineyard has outside seating for wine tasting and picnicking while physical distancing. Before going to any of these wineries, check out their websites for modifications to their normal offerings due to COVID-19 restrictions.
EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS

The more active couple should consider kayaking or hiking for a date that is super fun. Minneapolis Park Board Rentals offers kayaks, and this guide offers great trails for hiking in Minneapolis from alltrails.com. PlanetWare also has an article on 12 hiking trails in Minnesota. When it comes to kayaking, Twin Cities Agenda has 6 great places to Kayak Around the Twin Cities.
