Each season we always like to see what is new to the bridal scene and as we anticipated and predicted a year ago, the sexy red carpet look is fading away and being replaced by what we have all known over time to be “Bridal.” However, one distinct difference is the designers are designing for two types of brides, and it’s not urban and rural as we have seen before. The differentiation is seen between a younger millennial bride and a more career-established bride. Each designer stayed true to their aesthetic and we saw fewer designers going for the “Berta look” of revealing legs and illusion fabrics – as a matter of fact so did Berta, who brought a more subdued collection than what we have seen the past two seasons.
As expected, we had a jam-packed week(end) full of fashion shows, appointments, meetings and just enough time for some of our favorite NYC features. After we landed in NYC on Thursday and checked into our hotel, we went over to Kleinfeld Bridal, where our friend Randy Fenoli was set to debut his bridal collection. What a phenomenal way to kick off the start of New York Bridal Fashion Week with the introduction of Randy’s line! As always, the Berta fashion show was show stopping, especially with the lavish background of the Grand Ballroom at The Plaza. Another highlight of our trip is always viewing Ramona Keveza’s latest designs at The Penthouse at One Rockefeller Plaza. The list goes on and on and from appointments to shows we were pleased with each and every collection we saw. Most of all, we can’t wait to see which styles make the cut and end up in our local bridal salons or what styles translate onto the UNVEILED runway this coming season. We are always looking for inspiration and the Spring New York Bridal Fashion Week was just that!
Stay tuned for detailed descriptions of all the collections we saw in the weeks to come!
