The blushing bride will debut the look she has been perfectly crafting for months as she takes those first few steps down the aisle. We can’t forget about the other half though; the groom has a duty to make the first impression of style on the big day. You should take this as an opportunity to look your absolute best, because after all this is your big day too!
Suit or Tux?
You and your bride have most likely settled on a style for the wedding date. The first step in choosing your wedding day attire is to consider the formality and style of your event. Will you wear a tux or a suit? There are tons of options, even more than you would think, for all the men involved in the big day. Ask yourself how formal you want your day to be… is it a black tie event, or a rustic outdoor theme? For a formal wedding, a classic wedding tux is always the right choice, but as weddings become more casual you might want to play around with the idea of wedding suits.
To buy or to rent?
If your wedding is going to be a formal affair and a tux is your choice, you have to make a choice…to rent or to buy? Unless you attend three to four formal events a year we recommend taking the renting route. If you’ve decided that a suit will be the way to go on your wedding day you can also choose to rent for the special occasion but toss around the idea of investing in a nice custom suit that is perfect for you and the big day. Creating a custom suit allows experts to handpick fabrics and design a look tailored to your specific needs. Many of these pieces are made-to-order or made-to-measure and unique to you!
How do I personalize my look?
This is a question you’ll most likely be asking if you choose the renting route. Don’t worry! Even if you choose to rent for this occasion you have plenty of options to make this wedding day look perfectly unique! Patterned suits, colored cummerbunds, fun cufflinks, trendy socks, a great pair of shoes, patterned bow ties and pocket squares are just a few ways the groom can get creative when planning out his perfect style debut down the aisle.
Should I match my groomsmen?
This is a question of personal preference and it is completely acceptable to take either side on this question. Keep in mind that matching and coordinating are two different ideas, coordinating with your groomsmen is a must, but matching is a preference. If you want all the men to look clean and uniform you may opt for the groomsmen to order or rent the same ensemble as the groom. But keep in mind that it is okay to be the center of attention (or at least come in second behind your bride) on the big day. You can alter your groomsmen’s look by having them wear a different style or patterned tie, a vest instead of cummerbunds or even go as far as dressing them in a different colored tux or suit that complements your own, again, the options are endless!
