She moved to the United States to attend the International Academy of Design and Technology to achieve her lifelong goal of becoming a fashion designer. After years of working hands-on with well-known designers, Rania finally took a leap of faith and created her very own bridal collection in 2010, and it was worth it! Today she is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and creates show stopping bridal looks season after season!
Rania Hatoum’s eye catching “Henna” gown from her Spring/Summer 2017 collection was Inspired by the beautiful and traditional artwork of henna tattoos. Rania designed the ‘Henna’ gown to reflect upon her Egyptian ancestry. It is a tradition in Egypt that brides and their bridesmaids have henna parties prior to their wedding day. Henna party artists use a paste derived from dried henna leaves to intricately paint beautiful patterns on the hands of the bride and her bridesmaids. It is believed that this tradition will bring the bride good blessings, luck and joy as she embarks on her journey to matrimony. Nowadays, henna is also considered a beauty accessory and is part of a modern bride’s fashion wear. The ‘Henna’ gown design is unique and is designed by Rania Hatoum herself. Illustrated initially on paper and then translated into beadwork, each bead is intricately hand-sewn making this beautiful gown a masterpiece of design and tradition. The gown itself is a show stopping sleeveless body contouring illusion beaded column dress featuring pearls and sequins.
The rest of Rania’s spring 2017 collection features a wide range of styles. From traditional lace ball gowns to modern and trendy silhouettes, there is something for every bride! Each gown in the collection carries a certain light and airy vintage feel, the perfect style for many of our favorite wedding trends this summer and fall!
