Laser Cut – Cutting Edge in Wedding Stationery
As we progress through the planning process of the 2009 Trend Wedding we want to share with you some of the great developments. Sort of a sneak peak into the wedding without giving away the entire design.
The invitations are out and Sarah Glad with A Milestone Paper Co. has outdone herself with the amazing invitation created for Katie and Mike. Taking inspiration from the trend forward colors being used for the wedding, we also took inspiration from the Chambers Hotel lobby bar painting ‘Seabird’ by Gary Hume…it is an enlarged image of a bird to the point where only the colored pixels are apparent; pixels and their patterns were painted on metal panels. We thought a different look and feel for the invitation needed to be achieved given the venue’s clean lines and flare for a chic difference!

The idea for a box was discussed but it had to be slick hence the metal clam box. The dot pattern was used to line the inside of the box for the invitation to be set upon. There are four layers to the invitation which encompass paper, acrylic, paper and metal. The first layer announces the wedding. An ivory paper stock which mimics the fabric texture of the bridesmaids gowns was used. It has a new technique which is the use of a laser to cut into the card stock. A custom monogram of K and M was designed and laser cut into the card stock. The fine detail of the laser cut is precisely amazing and something we have not seen yet in wedding stationery, another first for Trend Wedding! The second layer is clear acrylic and speaks to the “Celebration Continues” outlining the reception details. The third layer in a muted green tells the guests all about “Getting There” for the wedding and the final layer is a stainless steel “Be Inspired” bookmark with a quote from Mae West, “Love isn’t an emtion or an instinct – it’s an art.” Very appropriate for Chambers Minneapolis Hotel being known as ‘The Luxury Art Hotel of Minneapolis’.
Deconstructed Wedding Invitation
Each invitation was wrapped with a ‘polka dot’ band with the guests name clearly printed on the band for special delivery to the guests.
